The colón is the official currency of Costa Rica, although the US dollar is also accepted in many areas of the country, including Cartago. Since Costa Rica is located well within the Tropics of Capricorn and Cancer, its climate by definition is tropical. This means it only has two seasons: a dry season with little to no rain — depending on the area, and a rainy season (also called green season), when it rains continuously.
